Credit Card

When President Obama hosted our very own PM Lee at a state dinner before National Day, he specifically acknowledged that Singaporeans are extremely discerning about their food. Singapore is a foodie’s paradise, so much so that hawker stalls can get Michelin stars. But what was omitted was that Singaporeans are also suckers for discounts; if you mash both food and discount together, you got yourself a winning recipe.

Which is why we’re presenting to you the best dining deals you can get out of your credit cards this year. Bon appetit!

1-For-1 Deals: For Budget Feasts

UOB Dining Privileges: inItaly Bar Ristorante Degustation Menu

We don’t care if you’re a fine dining connoisseur or just a starving soul, there should never be any hesitation when it comes to degustation. Especially if there’s a 1-for-1 promotion. Any UOB credit card holder is eligible to sample the best of Tuscan-styled cuisines at inItaly Bar Ristorante at zero cost for the plus one. Or half the usual price if you guys are going splitsies.

The 1-for-1 degustation menu is available from Sundays to Thursdays.

OCBC Credit Cards: Carlton Hotel Singapore, Café Mosaic

More often than not, hotel dining is reserved for special occasions. If it’s not birthdays and anniversaries, then there’s probably an irresistible promotion going on. That’s exactly what you’ll get if you bring your OCBC credit card to Carlton Hotel’s Café Mosaic, where you can feast yourself silly over the 1-for-1 seafood on ice dinner buffet.

The promotion is ongoing from Mondays to Sundays at S$88++ per adult.

Buffets: For Those with Black Holes for Tummies

HSBC Credit Cards: Buffet Deals

If you happen to be a HSBC credit card holder or are planning to get your hands on one, we hope you already have a gym membership in place. Looking at the plethora of buffet deals you’ll be swallowed into, it’s shaping up to be a tall task to keep in shape. HSBC has regular monthly highlights and for this month of August, card members get limited 1-for-1 specials at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel’s Crossroads Café, Lobby Lounge and Pool Grill. That’s only part of the dining deals at over 80 restaurant outlets available.

Maybank Credit Cards: Todai Seafood & Sushi Restaurant

Can’t decide between seafood and Japanese food? Go for both, then. Until March 2017, Maybank credit card holders can enjoy 1-for-1 dinner buffet at Todai, a highly acclaimed opening at Marina Bay Sands that combines the best of seafood and sushi.

Todai’s dinner buffet is priced at S$58++ between Mondays and Thursdays, S$68++ on Fridays and weekends. The promotion is valid on Wednesdays only.

Sunday Brunches: For That Hangover Cure

UOB Dining Privileges: Lime, PARKROYAL on Pickering

Why not slosh yourself into a second hangover to hold off the pre-Monday blues, right? Champagne brunches seem to be the ‘it’ thing on Sundays these days, but the price per person can really exacerbate the throbbing headache. Not if you head over to Lime at PARKROYAL on Pickering; the champagne brunch costs S$139 per person and S$98++ without the booze. But under the UOB dining privileges, you can do some damage control with 20% savings on the bill. Premium UOB credit cards grant 30%.

ANZ Optimum World: 5% Cashback On All Dining

Or, Sundays could strictly be an alcohol-free day for recovery purposes. If that’s the case, do away with the fanciness of champagne brunches. You really only need a big grease plate of bacons, poached eggs and endless carafes of hot coffee.

From Tiong Bahru to Upper Thomson, there are a gazillion cafés in Singapore you can chill at and it’s impossible for us to pick the best of the lot, so here’s what we suggest: apply for ANZ’s Optimum World MasterCard. After selecting ‘Dining & Leisure’ as your preferred category, you’ll receive 5% cashback reward no matter which F&B outlet you find yourself hopping to. You won’t have to be restricted to just that one promo at that one spot.

Hotel High Tea: For an Atas Pampering

American Express: Up To 50% Hotel Dining

Let’s not restrict this activity to the preening tai-tais and English royalty. With the right credit card, anybody can be atas. American Express credit cards provide an expressway right up the pinnacle of hotel high teas, because you get up to 50% discount (as long as you bring one guest) at some of the finest hotels in Singapore. We’re talking the likes of our grand ol’ dame Raffles Singapore, Shangri-La, Marriott Tang Plaza, St. Regis and W Singapore.

The scones and macarons never tasted sweeter.

OCBC Credit Cards: Conrad Centennial Singapore, Lobby Lounge

OCBC card members, cash in on this deal before it ends on 31 August. This is the gold standard of hotel high teas, quite literally; the ambient lighting and gold leaf ceiling of Conrad’s Lobby Lounge can make the 1-for-1 high tea buffet so cozy you might just doze off in the middle of a half-eaten cupcake.

This promotion is only valid on Saturdays and Sundays and prior reservation is required.

Clubs & Bars: For Those TGIF Tipples

Citibank Credit Cards: 1-For-1 Drinks at Zouk’s Wine Bar

It’s quite clear that the Citibank Clear credit card is such a hit with tertiary students is because of the free entry to Zouk on ladies’ nights and weekends. And also the 1-for-1 drinks at Wine Bar, of course. While Zouk is set to move to its new premise at Clarke Quay, Citibank credit cards are here to stay in its synonymy to Singapore’s most historic nightlife post.

UOB YOLO: Party All Day, Party All Night

When the sun goes down and the bottles come out, things can quickly become crazy expensive. Your sobriety might be difficult to salvage, but your finances don’t have to be. That’s where the UOB YOLO credit card comes into play; not only do you get free entry and house pour for yourself and a friend at Zouk, party privileges are abound at all the places the cool kids hang.
