Who’s ready for Michelin Guide Singapore on 21 July 2016? For the first time, along with the Michelin guidebook launch in Singapore, the event will feature an awards ceremony and gala dinner that is open to public. Before the actual day comes around, spare yourself the agony of the wait; whether it’s in-house promotions, credit card benefits or the sheer life-changing quality of the meal, check into these 10 Michelin-star-worthy picks for some seriously good food with seriously good value.

1. Bread Street Kitchen

The famous (or should we say infamous?) Gordon Ramsay of Hell’s Kitchen has amassed a total of 16 Michelin Stars for all of his restaurants till date and it is easy to see why Bread Street opened to much fanfare in the middle of 2015. It is his first outpost in Singapore that offers diners traditional British fare skewed to Singaporean tastes.

Under Citibank Gourmet Pleasures program, Citibank cardholders can enjoy 10% off total bill with minimum S$200 spent. Citibank ULTIMA and Citi Prestige Card members get complimentary Champagne or Prosecco, valid until 31 July 2016.

Other promotions: 50% off Ramos Gin Fizz signature cocktail on Tuesdays 6 to 9pm. Weekday set lunch specials starts at S$40++.

2. CUT by Wolfgang Puck

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck might have brought his Hollywood success story, the two Michelin-starred Spago, into Singapore. But his other opening of CUT at Marina Bay Sands also boasts a success story of its own as one of the best steakhouses in Singapore. If you need to satisfy hunger pangs before hitting the MasterCard theatres for a musical, pop by CUT between 6pm and 6.30pm to take advantage of the Early Evening Dining offer and enjoy a two-course menu at S$70++, consisting selections like American Blue Crab & Shrimp ‘Louis’ and USDA Prime Striploin ‘Steak Frites’.

Other promotions: Citibank card members can enjoy 10% off total bill with minimum spending of S$300.

3. DB Bistro & Oyster Bar

The DB stands for Daniel Boulud, a Michelin-starred chef who made a name for himself after moving to New York City in 1982. He has brought the best of American fares into his first bistro in Singapore, most notably his New York-styled burgers. You mean you haven’t tried it yet? Shucks, what a pity. Because they also have fresh-from-the-ocean American and French oysters to complete what is set to be a satisfaction-guaranteed fine dining experience.

Available until 31 July 2016, Citibank credit card members can enjoy 10% off their bills with minimum spending of S$200. On weekdays between 12 to 5.30pm, set lunch specials start at S$42++.

Other promotions: Every Monday after 5.30pm, you have the opportunity to literally raid the wine cellar. Grab any bottle priced at S$150 and above and you only have to fork out half the amount.

4. Din Tai Fung

In Singapore alone, there are a total of 19 Din Tai Fung outlets operating under BreadTalk Group. Diners have been treated to mouth-watering Chinese cuisines like the renowned xiao long baos and noodle soups. While you’re carefully nibbling a hole in the xiao long bao to slurp up the flavorful soup within, did you know Din Tai Fung got awarded a Michelin star in Hong Kong? Who would have thought that the once-small-time Taiwanese cooking oil retailer could come so far?

From now until 31 December 2016, UOB credit card members get an exclusive 15% off selected noodle dishes.

Other promotions: Citibank card holders get complimentary red bean rice dumplings with minimum spend of S$90, and also 15% off steamed snacks and buns.

5. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon

Celebrated French chef Joël Robuchon came out of retirement to open L’Atelier at Resorts World Sentosa, a relatively casual diner that immerses customers in a theatrical experience. Chef and diners are separated only by a counter as the latter get to watch their orders prepared right before their eyes.

Take that specially crafted atmosphere and pile on the Michelin-starred quality creations on the menu, you’ll be hard pressed not to sell a kidney for a meal here, right? Wrong. The set lunches and three-course dinners are surprisingly easy on the pockets and the ongoing promotions are making the deal sweeter than its ‘Le Chocolat’. If you charge the bill to MasterCard, you can enjoy 10% off a la carte items. There is also a daily Early Evening Dining program; if you arrive between 5.30 and 6.30pm, you can savor a three-course affair at S$40++.

Other promotions: RWS Invites card members enjoy 3% rebate.

6. Osteria Mozza

Adding a dash of Italian flair to the Michelin-starred conglomerate at Marina Bay Sands, Osteria Mozza is managed by chef Mario Batali, who has indulged diners in the likes of fresh Grilled Asparagus, rich Linguine with Clams and succulent Grilled Wagyu Beef Tagliata. Taking centerstage at the restaurant, quite literally, is the mozzarella bar. Thanks to the ongoing Early Evening Dining promotion, worry about the bill no more; from 5 to 7pm on Mondays to Thursdays, you can order any antipasti or mozzarella bar dish matched with any house made pasta for S$48++. Comes topped off with dessert.

Other promotions: Until 31 July 2016, Citibank card members can enjoy 10% off total bill with minimum spend of S$200. Citibank ULTIMA and Citi Prestige card members get complimentary Champagne or Prosecco.

7. Pizzeria Mozza

As Osteria Mozza’s immediate neighbor that’s a little more chill, diners with room for more grub can hop next door for an additional serving of Italian cuisine. Only this time, it’s Michelin-starred pizzas. You can choose from a dizzying array of artisanal pizzas from their menu and order some handcrafted cocktails to go with it. From noon to 5pm on Mondays to Thursdays, Pizzeria Mozza is offering an Express Lunch promotion; choose any antipasti to go with a pizza and enjoy a glass of Italian iced tea, all for S$28++.

Other promotions: As part of Marina Bay Sand’s weekly Social Hour, get 50% off the Mozza Margarita cocktail every Tuesday from 6-9pm.

8. Restaurant Andre

All right, we’ll admit. This is probably not the most value for money option for a Michelin-star-styled pampering. But like an uncrowned prince, Chef Andre Chiang’s eponymous restaurant is voted the best restaurant in Singapore. Restaurant Andre recently clinched the 32nd spot on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list, moving 14 places up from last year. What’s more, it has been the only restaurant in Singapore to get a coveted spot in the top 50 since 2013.

Our dollar is on Restaurant Andre getting at least one coveted Michelin Star.

Here is a little consolation for those who managed to secure a reservation at Singapore’s best restaurant. For OCBC 365 credit card holders, Restaurant Andre is on the list of best restaurant recommendations under the Visa Preferred Dining Program. Additionally, enjoy 6% cashback during local weekend dining.

9. Tim Ho Wan

Translating into ‘adding good fortunes’ in Cantonese, Tim Ho Wan is one of the pioneers on the Michelin Star fraternity in Hong Kong, proving that you don’t have to be a glitzy fine diner with rooftop views to earn your stars. Once you sink your teeth into the Hong Kong eatery’s beloved Baked Bun with BBQ Pork and its Four Heavenly Kings dim sum counterparts, you really don’t need credit card promotions to know it is already as value for money as it can get.

10. Tippling Club

Despite what the name suggests, Tippling Club plows its niche in specially crafted avant-garde cocktails as much as they cater to another kind of club: the gastronomers. Now based in Tanjong Pagar, it has already won numerous accolades such as World Gourmet Summit 20 Best Chefs (awarded to chef/owner Ryan Clift), Best Restaurant Bar, Asia’s 50 Best Bars and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.

If you are an OCBC 365 card holder, you can tap into the Visa Preferred Dining Program which provides exclusive assistance with best restaurant recommendations and reservations across the world. Don’t forget you can also enjoy 6% cashback for local weekend dining.
